Greg Phillips
The inventor of Side-Safety, Mr. Phillips works full-time as a machinery equipment operator for the highway department of Phelps, New York (upstate NY, not far from Rochester). Growing up working on the family farm, Greg developed an excellent work ethic and a curiosity about how things work. Subsequently, he spent almost fifteen years working at the Phelps Sun Gas Propane Company and has worked at the Phelps highway department since 2002. Of course, the latter is of direct relevance to the Side-Safety invention.
Mr. Phillips’ hobby life is even more germane to his accident-prevention innovation. Taking after his late father, who enjoyed racing cars, Greg enjoys racing motorcycles and four-wheelers and also likes tinkering with all sorts of vehicles -- including cars. In fact, he is quite comfortable taking entire vehicles apart and putting them back together again. “I”, he often says, “like to see how things are put together.” He also likes to alter some things to make a vehicle safer. Inspired by his father, it was this kind of tinkering that led to the patented Side-Safety invention. |
